Our international conference, PebbleBash, is something special – this is not just the idle boast of your proud hosts and organisers, but something our delegates tell us after every PebbleBash event. So we thought it fitting to invite two of our 2018 attendees, one for whom it was their first PebbleBash experience and the other a veteran of three, to share their reflections on the conference and a little of what they have taken away from the experience. In our recent review of teaching and learning strategies from 50 universities across the globe, student retention featured at the heart of many of the strategies. Indeeds, 72% of strategies from universities outside of the current top 100 rankings had retention as a focus area. The latest PebblePad blog post offers up three critical success factors for promoting engagement and five practical strategies for boosting the chances of students completing their studies.

For the past 13 years, PebblePad has been a part of the ALT journey – even longer for company founders, Shane and Colin, who were presenting their VLE work at ALTC 2001 (Edinburgh), and who actually began chatting about building something PebblePad-like while at the 2002 ALTC (Sunderland) - no doubt over a biscuit or cake. And ALTC 2005 (Manchester) has a special place in PebblePad's history, as it was the event where PebblePad was launched as a commercial product. We're delighted to be attending ALTC 2018 in what will be the 25th conference for the Association of Learning Technology.

A new North American partnership - Emory & Henry College join the PebblePad community.

We are delighted to announce that Emory & Henry College has joined the PebblePad community. We are very proud to be working with one of North America's leading Liberal Arts Colleges in a collaboration which will see the college take its thriving eportfolio culture to the next level.

Organisation-wide eportfolio implementation - a fantastic guest post by Heidi C. Blair, Ph.D. and Megan Duffy from Griffith University, written in the universal language of food.

Like many other higher education institutions, Griffith University (Queensland, Australia), had been looking for an eportfolio platform for its 55,000 staff and students. Across its four academic groups - Arts, Education & Law, Griffith Business, Griffith Health, and Griffith Sciences – academics were asking for a platform to suit a variety of tastes. The University had an appetite for purchasing an eportfolio solution that it could implement and support for all. In late 2016 the university determined that PebblePad was the right technology for the job. Fast forward to August 2017, and the university has a successful enterprise-wide implementation, working collaboratively across departments and academic groups.
