We’re absolutely delighted to announce that PebblePad has been chosen as a preferred learning technology provider by BCNET, a not-for-profit, shared services organization in British Columbia, Canada.

This landmark partnership will mean that universities, colleges and institutes across British Columbia will have easy access to PebblePad to better support new digital teaching and learning strategies –  strategies that will be instrumental in helping higher education  to recover from the Covid crisis. PebblePad was chosen for our capacity to support eportfolio and reflective learning initiatives in higher education at scale, and for the security and privacy afforded by the student-owned digital space.

This news comes on the heels of strong growth for PebblePad across the region. We’ve recently welcomed into the PebblePad community Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Langara College and the Justice Institute of British Columbia. We’re incredibly excited to be supporting these institutions in their teaching, learning and assessment ambitions.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University

KPU has chosen PebblePad to support their mission to focus on both hands-on skills and traditional academic trajectories. As Canada’s only polytechnic university, KPU supports tailored technical and certificate programs while delivering excellent undergraduate degrees. Adding into the mix creative programs and essential and noteworthy indigenization of the curriculum means the institution faces a multifaceted set of complex needs. It was with these needs and goals in mind that KPU procured PebblePad and has dedicated its resources, time and enthusiasm to its use in service across the institution.

Langara College

Langara College is one of BC’s leading undergraduate institutions providing University Studies, Career Studies, and Continuing Studies programs and courses to more than 23,000 students annually. The College is recognized as a leading undergraduate institution with a reputation for providing exceptional learning opportunities. They identified a gap in the student digital learning environment – students had limited opportunities to capture and showcase their achievements, and options for expressing their creativity. PebblePad will support faculty and students to focus on the development of their learning, and to choose things that articulate and demonstrate what they’ve learned. By partnering with PebblePad they are now able to provide students with a personal learning space that supports deeper, reflective and more authentic forms of learning.

Justice Institute of British Columbia

Justice Institute of British Columbia is Canada’s leading public safety educator, a public post-secondary institution that has earned a worldwide reputation for exceptional applied education, training and research. Committed to engaging students in reflection, integrated learning and Work Integrated Learning (WIL), JIBC believes that PebblePad will have an impact on the overall JIBC learning technology ecosystem and teaching practices.

A new and exciting partnership

On our new partnership with BCNET, PebblePad CEO and founder, Shane Sutherland, says, “There are many connections and collaborations between our partners in the UK and Australia and the excellent universities and colleges in British Columbia, and so we are delighted to have been selected by BCNET as a preferred learning technology provider and look forward to building upon those connections, and forging new ones as we work with higher education providers to support student-centred learning across the entire student learning journey.”

As online learning takes its place as a permanent part of the higher education experience, PebblePad’s unique ability to help educators and educational institutions support flexible learning for all students, across every step of their learning journey, will see it increasingly become a must-have for universities.

Dean Crawford, Director of Shared Systems and Technology at BCNET says, “This new and exciting partnership with PebblePad promises to be instrumental for our membership organisations across British Columbia at a crucial time when supporting their learners is more important than ever before. By providing them with access to technology platforms such as PebblePad our universities, colleges and institutes will be able to transform their digital and learning strategies in readiness for the new hybrid learning world that they face.”

We’re excited to be working closely with our new partners in British Columbia as they begin their PebblePad journey and look forward to welcoming more BCNET members into the PebblePad community.
