You can import an ePortfolio package or assets from another version of PebblePad. This may be useful if you have previously had a personal account and move to an institution or if you are leaving an institution and wish to continue using PebblePad. You can also import from other systems as long as the assets and portfolios are the same format as PebblePad (Leap2a format).
Click the tools button and choose manage assets. From the report window select import which is located towards the bottom of the report page.
Import
There are 4 tabs which allow you to import assets from a range of sources.
Import From a URL
To import from another installation of PebblePad type in the address or institution name into the location box. When you start to type the box will offer suggestions for available PebblePad installations. Once you see the one you require you can select it and enter your username and password for this external installation.
The window will list all the assets in the external PebblePad account. If you wish to import everything simply click on the import selected button near the top right of the window.
If you would like to select specific assets to import you can search for items using the Filter option. Type a word into the Filter box and click Go. This will display all items containing the term you have typed in. If items you do not require are in the list click on the check box next to these items to remove the tick. Only items with a tick will be included in your import.
Another way to refine the list of items being imported is to use the options tool. This allows you to select items based on type. So if you want to import all files or all action plans you can use this option to help you with your selection.
Click on Options and a new panel will appear. Initially all asset types will be selected. If you click on the All check box the items will be de-selected. You can then select the types you wish to export. You can select multiple asset types and as you make your selections the list of your items will automatically tick all those items matching your choice. You can scroll down the list to add or remove individual items to ensure you have exactly what you want to import. Once you have selected all the required items click on the import selected button.
From a Zip
The From a Zip option lets you upload a zip archive in either Leap2a (preferred) or IMS ePortfolio format. Simply click on the browse button and select the zip file to upload. This will automatically unpack on the server and you can then access your files as standard assets.
From a Feed
Some extenal sites such as Twitter and Blogger provide an RRS feed option which can be used by PebblePad to import items posted to these sites.
To import items from a feed you need to paste the feed address into the text area, this can usually be found on the originating website via an RSS logo.
From an External Account
If someone has shared items with you as an external user - for example by sharing with your home email address, you can import these to your PebblePad account so all your items are in the same place.
Enter your external username and password which has been emailed to you when the item was shared with you and click on import. All items shared with this external account will be available in the shared items section. You do not have to repeat this as PebblePad will remember your details so it more items are shared with your external account you will automatically see them in your main shared assets area.
