Export
PebblePad
supports a number of export options to allow you to move your ePortfolio
assets to other installations
of PebblePad
or to other ePortfolio systems using the Leap2a or IMS ePortfolio format.
Leap2a is the preferred format as it supports all PebblePad asset types. IMS ePortfolio should only be
used if you are moving items to another system that does not support Leap2a.
When you do an export your assets
will be added to a zip archive file and whilst PebblePad allows you to re-import these
zip files, other systems may require you to unzip the file first. You
can also export
webfolios
as a web site, or individual items as html (we pages) allowing you to
put any of your webfolios
into a personal web space or disk for distribution.
When you are exporting any item that has other assets linked, such as a Webfolio linking to files, the exporter
will automatically add these linked items to the export to ensure you
have a fully working copy of the initial item.
As exported files can be very large particularly if you have a lot of
assets
to export,
or have large individual files in your PebblePad
account, it may take several minutes for the export to work, so please be patient while
the export
files are created.
Click the tools button and choose more and then select export

The pad will open up a new window that will give you three options:
Export selected assets
Choosing this option will allow you to select anything from one of your assets to all of them.
A new window will open listing all the assets in your PebblePad account. If you wish to export everything simply click on the Export button near the top right of the window.

If you would like to select specific assets to export you can search for items using the Filter option. Type a word into the Filter box and click Go. This will display all items containing the term you have typed in. If items you do not require are in the list click on the check box next to these items to remove the tick. Only items with a tick will be included in your export.
Another way to refine the list of items being exported is to use the options tool. This allows you to select items based on type. So if you want to export all files or all action plans you can use this option to help you with your selection.
Click on Options and a new panel will appear.
Initially all options will be selected. If you click on the All check box all items will be de-selected. You can then select the item types you wish to export.

You can select as many types as appropriate and as you make your choices of asset types the list of your items will automatically tick all those items matching your selected type.
You can scroll down the list to add or remove items to ensure you have exactly what you want to export.
Once you have select all the items to export click on the Export option. If you are moving from one installation of PebblePad to another the best format is Leap2a, which is also the most widely supported format for other systems. If however you require an IMS eportfolio package click on the export as option to select IMS eportfolio.
You will then be prompted to save your export file on your computer. The way this works will be dependent on your own computer set up, but generally you will be able to select a location to save the file.
Your exported assets will be in a single zip archive file and whilst PebblePad allows you to re-import these zip files, other systems may require you to unzip the file first.
Export webfolio as a website
Choosing this option will allow you to select a webfolio to export as a zip archive. You need to 'unzip' or 'unpack' this file to be able to view your webfolio as a website on your computer.

When the website is exported an index page (index.htm) is created, this is the home page or starting point you should select first if you want to view your webfolio from your computer.
You can also share your webfolio through various storage media including flash drives. If you burn your unzipped files to a CD/DVD your webfolio will 'autorun' when the disk is inserted.
Export selected asset as HTML
Choosing this option will allow you to select an individual item from your assets list to be exported as a HTML webpage. This will be exported as a zip file which will include all the files required to display. This can then be uploaded into a webspace to allow other people to view.

Once your assets
are selected click the green tick at the bottom of the right pad
If a lot of assets are linked to the item you are exporting, or have very large files it may take several minutes for the export to work, so please be patient while the export files are created.
