Unit 4

Unit 4 - Planning and evaluating learning

The motto of this page is that you can never ever be too prepared!

My first experience of teaching was to do a micro teaching session to my peers, there are different schools of thought between people as to how scary this was, I personally was more comfortable presenting to my peers than the terror I felt before my first placement session. My microteaching didn't quite go according to plan, have a look and see, though luckily it turned out ok and the feedback that I got gave me loads of confidence that I could do this teaching malarky after all :o)

Placement college lesson planning

After my peers survived my teaching session it was time to teach to students who may not be quite as supportive as my peers! Yikes! This is an example of one of my Keyskills IT lesson planners from one of the classes that I am let loose on at my placement college. I have included below a range of additional lesson planners and additional resources I use in my teaching.

Excel spreadsheets module - Using charts lesson plan, in this lesson I used a quiz sheet to get the session started. There is a workbook which is used in this session I also used a feedback form to see what students wanted to cover in the following weeks session.

Excel spreadsheets module - Assignment workshop lesson plan, Here is the remit for the assignment this workshop was for. I used an additional PowerPoint presentation in this lesson, aswell as a sample revision exercise and module evaluation sheets.

Picture relvance:

This is me!! The significance of this picture is huge for me, I'm teaching! It's kind of one of those 'look at me I'm doing it' moments. I had taught in my previous career at McDonald's but this was different, I was teaching using lesson plans and everything! This picture will always remind me that back up plans are a lifeline.
